Our Vision

The Crossroads aims to revitalize our heritage by transforming an old urban villa into a thriving, self-sufficient eco-community. Our purpose is to foster a space where people from diverse backgrounds can come together to innovate and collaborate.

Through the dedication of volunteers from around the world, we work to cultivate an environment that encourages sustainable living, creativity, cultural exchange, and continuous improvement. 

A B O U T   O U R   A R E A

Arcadia and Megalopolis

Arcadia is a region located in the central Peloponnese, Greece, renowned for its mountainous terrain, lush landscapes, and rich history. Throughout antiquity and into the present day, Arcadia has been celebrated both as a real and an idealized place, embodying the notion of a pastoral paradise.
 

Megalopolis (Μεγαλόπολη), meaning "great city," was founded in 371 BC as a defensive strategy against Sparta following their defeat at the Battle of Leuctra. Intended as the "capital" of the Arcadian League, an alliance of Arcadian city-states, the city featured an enormous theater that could seat up to 20,000 people, one of the largest in ancient Greece. 
Today, Megalopolis is a small town in the Arcadia region with a reduced population. However, it has maintained an important regional role, especially due to its location and natural resources.

We are focused on saving natural resources, recycling waste, creating compost, growing our own plant-based foods, and caring for the environment around us.
